Whole-Body MRI.

A radiation-free read across brain, spine, thorax, abdomen, pelvis and major vessels — performed on a 3T Philips and reviewed by a consultant radiologist. Booked on its own or layered into a Checkpoint assessment, the result lands as a written, plain-English report.

See the inside, in a single morning.

A whole-body MRI is a single, continuous study that screens the major organ systems in one scan — brain to pelvis, with the vascular tree included by default. It uses powerful magnets and radio waves rather than ionising radiation, so it can be repeated year on year without cumulative risk.

At Checkpoint, the scan is performed on a 3T Philips system — the highest field-strength MRI in routine clinical use. Higher field strength means sharper images, finer slices and a more confident read, particularly for the brain, prostate and abdominal organs.

Every scan is read by a consultant radiologist, never by software alone. Your written report is delivered within five working days and sat through with you, in plain English, before it is closed.

Who it’s for.

Annual baseline

You want a full annual whole-body baseline, not a chest X-ray and a hand-wave.

Family history

You have a family history you want to keep an eye on, before any symptoms.

Symptoms to investigate

You have symptoms that need investigating — persistent pain, unexplained weight change, neurological signs.

Tracked over time

You want a stable, repeatable baseline to compare against year on year.

Second opinion

You have been scanned elsewhere but want a consultant radiologist to read it properly.

Six regions, one continuous read.

A single protocol covers six anatomical regions, head to pelvis — consultant-read together, so nothing falls between two reports.

Brain

Cortex, white matter, ventricles and vasculature — screened for ischaemia, atrophy and mass lesions.

Spine

Cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine — discs, cord and bony architecture in one continuous scan.

Thorax

Heart, great vessels, mediastinum and lungs — screened for masses, aneurysm and structural change.

Abdomen

Liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen and adrenals — read for lesions, fat fraction and anatomy.

Pelvis

Bladder, reproductive organs and pelvic floor — sex-specific protocols included by default.

Vascular

Major arterial and venous structures — abdominal aorta, renal and iliac vessels screened for aneurysm.

What to expect.

01

Arrival

A host meets you at the door, walks you upstairs, and the morning begins. No reception queue, no check-in kiosk.

02

Prep

Change into a robe in a private room. A nurse walks you through the protocol and answers any last questions.

03

Scan

45 minutes on the table. Sound-cancelling headphones, music of your choice, and a buzzer in your hand.

04

Consultant review

Your lead consultant talks you through the initial read on the day. The written report follows within 5 working days.

Frequently asked.

Cannot find what you need? Email hello@check-point.health and a real person will reply the same day.

How loud is the scanner?

MRI machines are loud — between 90 and 110 decibels at peak. You wear sound-cancelling headphones throughout, with music of your choice. Most members describe the noise as steady rather than startling.

Tell us when you book. The 3T Philips has a wider, shorter bore than older models and many people who think they are claustrophobic are fine inside it. If you are concerned, a consultant can prescribe a mild sedative or we can adapt the protocol.

Most whole-body MRI protocols at Checkpoint are non-contrast. If a specific finding warrants a contrast study, your consultant will discuss it with you before anything is given — never automatically.

The scan is around 45 minutes on the table. With prep, dressing and the post-scan consultant chat, the full visit takes about 90 minutes door to door.

A consultant radiologist reads the scan within 5 working days. You sit down with your lead consultant — in person or over a video call — before the written report is closed.

Enquire and a consultant will be in touch within one working day.

Whether you are booking your first assessment or planning an annual baseline, every conversation starts with the same team you see above. Tell us a little about you and a consultant will reply within one working day.
